It's easy to be simple and straightforward when you're young. But as we pass through the years, life is complicated. The way we see things changes. The painting is a reminder that we should always be open to learning new things. The experiences of life are meant to teach us something. The painting is about the different choices we make in life. The young face seems to be looking up and being hopeful for something better, while the old face looks down with a sad expression on his/her face. This is because they're both human and they have faced many challenges in their lives, which caused them to become mature enough to understand that some things cannot be changed no matter how hard they try.
